Complementary and Integrative Health Practices for Depression

January 24, 2018   |   Currents in Integrative Healthcare

The article reviews selected complementary health approaches for the treatment of depressive symptoms. Patient use of integrative health practices and products, which focuses on the whole person with the goal of optimal health-body, mind, and spirit, is increasing. The article discusses ways to combine CIH options, such as massage therapy and meditation, with conventional medicine and argues that physicians and nurse practitioners should be open to considering complementary practices for health care and knowledge to guide patients in making safe health decisions.
