December 28, 2015   |   Evidence in Integrative Healthcare

RAND is seeking chiropractors in six regions – including Portland, OR – for a study in 2016 to examine the impact of evidence, outcomes, costs, and patient preferences on the choice of treatment for chronic low back pain and neck pain.

This study is funded by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), and its aims are; 1) to understand better ways to assess appropriateness within complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), such as chiropractic care; 2) to determine how the inclusion of patient perspectives and cost impacts measures of appropriateness; and 3) to learn about patient preferences and experiences related to treating back pain and neck pain.

For more information about the study, including participation criteria, please e-mail the RAND research staff at ChiroStudy@rand.org.
