September is National Yoga Month

September 25, 2020   |   Evidence in Integrative Healthcare

September is National Yoga Month, highlighting one of the more popular ways for promoting physical and mental well-being. Yoga or other similar meditative movement practices are often recommended as part of a wholistic approach to help with stress reduction, relief of painful conditions, sleep, etc. by integrative healthcare (IH) providers such as acupuncturists, chiropractors, massage therapists, and naturopaths. An excellent resource of the most up to date information for consumers and health professionals on yoga’s contribution to physical and mental well-being is the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH). This branch of the National Institute of Health (NIH) has taken a closer look at what yoga is and how it works.
