More information after Pain Awareness Month ends

September 30, 2020   |   Evidence in Integrative Healthcare

September is Pain Awareness Month, highlighting the most common reason patients visit their health care providers including integrative health (IH) providers, e.g., acupuncturist, chiropractor, massage therapist, naturopath. An excellent resource of the most up-to-date information for consumers and health professionals is the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH).  This branch of the National Institute of Health (NIH) supports and conducts research on pain, provides free online continuing education on topics such as Manipulating the Pain: Chiropractic and Other “Alternative” Treatments for Back Pain by Richard A. Deyo, MD, MPH; provides seminars on pain, and creates consumer friendly publications like the downloadable eBook, Pain: Considering Complementary Approaches which provides and overview of complementary health approaches for pain.  Take a moment to explore this wealth of information during September and beyond at https://www.nccih.nih.gov/health/pain?nav=govd.
